My guidance for a life well-lived.
I hope it resonates.
What is conscious living?
There are big benefits to CONSCIOUS LIVING - which really just means, living your life more deliberately.
Where does emotional hurt come from?
You’ve got to admit - all emotional hurt comes from your past.
That’s why to really heal you have to go back.
Not for long, but healing will allow you to move forward with anticipation without bringing yesterday’s pain to a future experience. Without healing, the pain doesn’t just go away. And that’s hard.
Are you doing the work to heal?
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how people heal, deal with old trauma and tend to their personal challenges.
Are you aware of your defensiveness?
Ohhhhh healing. We are all trying our best, but man, without learning the skills we need to become better, life can stay quite challenging within our relationships. We all have healing to do. It takes willingness, honesty, vulnerability, practice and patience (with ourselves and others).
No one size fits all
You are so unique!
And you are attracted to different things all the time. In this world we have so many choices! Diet, clothes, cars, books, beliefs, people, teachers, music. How awesome!
But with so many choices, we can become confused.
What resonates with you, is where you go. You are smart and don’t need to be told what to do. But definitely do something.
Parents can wound us, and help us
I’ve done my fair share of healing old wounds from childhood. Our caregivers did their best and now we get to do better. But there are times we need the truth from a parent - who really just wants the best for us. They don’t always deliver the message as gently as someone else would - but it’s a message nonetheless. And isn’t that a major role of a parent? No matter what our age, they get the right to tell us what we need to hear. It can be ruthless and direct, but hey, it’s not an easy job to raise a child.
Do you know the purpose of life?
The ‘purpose’ of life is a question I’m sure you’ve asked yourself at some point or another. What’s my purpose? Why am I here? All good questions. And over the years my purpose has changed and evolved. The definition and what I’m here for. So don’t ever make this deep question stress you out.
We’ve been hurt (and will be again) and have old wounds from our life experiences that weren’t always our fault. No one should have hurt your precious heart. Yet, it happened. And we are left to sort it out, often without the skills required to heal, yet we expect this amazing life that we ‘deserve.’
Love the ones you’re with
My Dad is in the hospital and I just want to say - please take the time to love the ones you’re with. You just don’t know how long you have or how long you have with the people in your life. I’m so thankful for the healing I’ve done. My forgiveness and hurts from the past have long been replaced with endless joy, laughter and memories that will last a lifetime. The tools I’ve gathered along the way have allowed me to accept and handle anything that shows up in my life.
