Hey hey!
Ok, I’m really into feelings lately! And of course, not all feelings are good. But if you have them, you’re alive and that’s a really good thing.
Most people are aware of the typical 6 feelings:
Anger - 15
Sadness - 19
Surprise - 13
Joy - 24
Love - 15
Fear - 15
But did you know there are actually way more feelings than that? The number is how many variations there are to the ‘typical’ feelings. Check out the wheel below. (from the Junto Institute).
It’s helpful to know what you are really feeling. Why? So you know what’s going on within you and so you can heal from the actual issue. Also, so you can become a better communicator with your people so they can understand you and not judge you.
You might know you are angry, but that keeps you angry. Maybe you're actually resentful, jealous or frustrated? (all under the anger spectrum, by the way). You can see these are very different feelings.
So - next time you’re feeling something - see what it really is!
Look at the love emotion. This one has confused me many times. I think I ‘love’ but looking at the wheel, maybe I was just ‘attracted.’ Or had a ‘longing.’ We might say love, but maybe we mean something else. 🤷
I’m keeping this sucker close by from now on! It’ll help me communicate my feelings better and will help others articulate theirs also. (Haha, my friends are rolling their eyes right now).
