The importance of keeping your word

Hey there,

Do you do what you say you’re going to do? How do you feel when you disappoint someone?

Have you ever had someone tell you that they would show up, and never did? How did that feel?

This is integrity. And how you treat others is what you can expect back.

I know for me, this is a super important value, so I am not only sensitive when people don’t live up to my standard, but I also have to allow others to be what they are without judgement.

I think all you can do is have the conversation. Allow the other to understand why it’s important to you. If they continue to disappoint you, ultimately since we cannot control another, we have to accept them and sometimes let them go.

I believe this is where trust resides. When someone can count on you, and you them, you create connection. This is an environment where a relationship can grow.

We know people can hurt us, but it sure feels good when we don’t think that they will.

I think it’s important to have people in your life that you can count on. When you don’t, you build up walls so you won’t get hurt. And you know what walls do - they keep the love out. Lose lose.

Since this is about you and how you are showing up, here’s a friendly reminder to live with integrity and keep your word.

Maybe you commit when you don’t really want to. Be honest. Value your relationships and know that what you do affects another. Treat others as you want to be treated. This seems so basic doesn’t it?

Keep the promises you make, but don’t make promises you can’t keep.

This is about knowing yourself. And of course being the best version of yourself.

Talk soon!

xoxo
