The grief from a break up

Hello Sweetheart,

One of the hardships in life is in dealing with loss. There are many forms of loss. But today I want to share why breakups are one of the toughest ones to break through from.

When you think of grief by death, you understand that you’ll never see them again and neither will anyone else.

Whereas, grief by breakup - they will see everyone else but you.

They will be seen by others and yet, they choose to not see you.

With death, it’s final. No amount of praying or changing will bring them back. So you can begin the painful grieving process.

With a breakup, you can still be lit by the spark of hope. Maybe they’ll miss you and come back. Maybe they will change, maybe you should have done more and maybe, just maybe, what didn’t work might finally work. I mean miracles do happen right? Ha.

As time slowly moves on, your memories are flooded by all the good stuff. What worked. The songs that remind you of them. The plans for the future you made together. You make yourself go out to move the hell on and find yourself wishing they would be the one to walk through the door.

The pain sucks because it is a form of rejection. Although I believe a healthier way to look at rejection is simply re-direction.

All I can offer you here is to try to remember, if it was supposed to work out, it would have. If you were supposed to be together, you would be. It takes both parties to want it and if one opts out, let them go.

If you knew what was around your next corner, you’d feel better, so guide your thinking towards acceptance and anticipation for what might happen next.

But grieve the pain. It’s a big loss so honor that. If you didn’t love, it wouldn't hurt so much. Be kind to yourself. You’re a good person and someone is waiting to love you somewhere.

In time, I hope you feel grateful that you got to love, for however long it lasted.

Learn your lesson(s) from it, and don’t give up on love. Life is just better with it. Not always easy, and it IS a gamble.

Plus, I think you’re worth it. 😍
