Too often we hold ourselves and others in the past, which is exactly what makes us say/feel that nothing ever changes! And it never will if this is where you hang out. A simple shift will do the trick.
When you catch yourself thinking or talking about something - ask yourself - am I in the past? And then get out of it. What good comes from living in the past? It’s over, can’t be changed and it's important to move on from it. The past is great to learn from and reminisce about special moments and that’s about it. So don’t stay here too long.
You’ve heard this said time and time again - the importance of being present, living in the moment and present moment awareness. And it’s important because it’s really all we have.
Imagine if all your present moments were conscious and felt good. Looking back would be good and your future would be without any fear. If you could have enough discipline and focus to only care about how you feel in your present moment, your life would be more peaceful.
Start paying attention to where you are in your mind while you do the things you do. This will allow you to know if you are present or not. Being present with the people you are with, is a gift to them. They will feel it and your connection to them will be better.
Who you choose to be each day, will be the accumulation of who you end up becoming.
Believe it or not, the future is all about what you are doing now. I like to say I don’t need a psychic, because my future is based on my thoughts and actions of today. We can plan for our future and look forward to things/events but it’s really just a projection of ideas that may or may not happen. Definitely daydream though. Our thoughts become things, so choose good thoughts and anticipate your future!
It’s good to take the time to contemplate how 2021 will look - I’d suggest to do a little of all 3. Reflect on the past, and dream about your future, but mainly be in the present moment. It’s the only thing you have. Or - whatever makes you feel the best - think about that.
