Beat to your own drum!
Today's topic is about ‘you doing you.’
One thing I’m finding is that I really do beat to my own drum. I know you do also. And it’s important to own it. Especially when someone gives their 2 cents about who you are. Haha.
Example: My mom (love you Mom) said I’m a procrastinator. Years ago (before I accepted my good and bad) I would have been defensive about a comment like that. Like for some reason that would be a ‘bad' trait. Today, I can laugh and say you’re right, I sure am! But I get stuff done. (Like my taxes, the night before they are due)!
She said, “I could never be like that” (again, like it’s a ‘bad’ thing).
This stuff happens to us all day long. You know why? Cuz we all have our own opinions and ways of doing things.
My beautiful and talented niece is a fashion illustrator. Super gifted. And her Dad (love you brother) wanted her to get a ‘real job.’ She’s doing more gigs today doing what she loves than she ever would have doing a ‘real job.’
Here’s my point. Do your life YOUR way. Say it your way, in your own voice at whatever volume. You are here for many reasons, created once. There will never be another you. Don’t diminish yourself, hide yourself or be scared to show your true self.
Oh, at times people will (not on purpose) try to bat you down. Be yourself anyway! Write your own story. Accept all of you, with a big fat smile. You’re the only one who has to live with it. So you might as well like it. This is pure acceptance. And they will too. I’d put money on it.
