3 types of intelligence
Did you know there are 3 types of intelligence?
IQ - Intellectual intelligence
EQ - Emotional intelligence
SQ - Spiritual intelligence
The importance of knowing this is to understand we are complex beings and require integration of all 3 to perform at our best.
I will explain at a high level, and then I’ll leave it up to you to research the area you may want more information on.
IQ - General mental abilities you are born with - such as reasoning, logic and problem solving skills
EQ - The ability to recognize your own emotions and those of others. To discern between different feelings and adjust emotions to adapt to environments. To manage your emotions to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
SQ - The ability to choose the actions, experiences, beliefs and values that create greater meaning and purpose in your life. Understanding the ‘self’ with a commitment to go from ego based living into living from the soul.
Like my mentor asked me, “what did your soul come here to do?” That’s a big question and worth much thought.
Using your IQ is natural, and is what we are born with, so not much work to do on there. But to increase your emotional and spiritual intelligence is something I strongly encourage you to do. It just makes life worth living. To work from your ego is not fulfilling for very long. And it keeps you in fear and never feeling good enough. Living from your soul creates a container for truth and meaning.
How to do this? You’re probably already doing some of it. It’s all about being your best self. It’s about learning. What makes you tick, how are you good to yourself and to others? What is missing in your life that is keeping you from being all that you can be?
We often work on our professional advancement, but this requires a look at your personal self development. Which affects every aspect of your life, so it will benefit all areas! You are one person that is part of the whole. How and who you are has a major impact on the world. Never underestimate this ripple effect.
We are born spiritual, but developing intelligence requires us to go out and get the skills to create true fulfillment. And it’s deeply personal. You are unique and the only one with access to your soul’s information.
