The power of a Mother

Hello sweet kid,

You’ve heard the term ‘mother wound.’ If not, I've attached an article link at the end for more information, but I see it something like this:

Mothers pass on what they know or don't know, onto their children. Some of the ways we were raised did not meet our needs and therefore cause us pain that shows up later in life.

Some may think it affects daughters more, but I’d beg to differ from what I’ve seen. A mother holds a lot of power to the upbringing of her child. Period.

If your mother was or has been hard on you (or still is), just bet, her mother was even harder on her.

I’m not a mother. But I have one. And it looks like one of the hardest jobs in the world to me.

A mother affects a whole life and often more than just one at the same time. That’s power. What do you even do with that kind of power?

For one day (Mother’s Day), let’s drop down the swords we hold in an attempt to protect ourselves from her power. She may live near or far, is here or has passed on.

But she loved you as best as she could.

Sometimes we have to grieve not having the mother we wished we could have had. Sometimes we’re grateful for the one we got. But the truth is, regardless of who your mother is, she was meant to be yours.

We learn from them. Who we want to be and who we don’t want to be. How to love or how not to love. Your mother is not separate from you. She was just a girl, who too, wanted and needed love, connection, acceptance and belonging.

This Mother’s Day, let’s look at our mothers as little girls who didn’t quite know what to do with us. Let’s love them anyway, and be grateful, no matter where they are.

Love you Mom. It’s been quite a trip together. 😅❤️

Sending you and your mother my love today,
Kristi 💕

PS. I could give you examples of my own mother wounds, and many more of how I turned my hurt into healing, forgiveness and then gratitude for our whole experience. Reach out if you want to know more. kristi@everythingbeginswithin.com

And this is true for everyone. You create your own reality. Let me help you get to yours!
